My first blizzard at the end of the world

I was checking on the AccuWeather app on my phone all night the other night because I was so excited with my 1st blizzard. It was a big deal for us because the next day, my husband had to go to Wausau for his book signing “ Wisconsin’s Best Beer Guide” and he had an early morning radio interview there too. The storm started at 11 pm on Dec 20 and continued until the evening of the next day. We got up at 6 am with 8-10 inches snow. The first thing to do before we left was shovel. I shoveled for the 1st time that morning! My mother-in law and my husband were kind to let me shovel just a small part 😉 It was fun but if I had to keep doing it every few hours, I might be too tired to have fun! I wore many layers because it was very cold but it might have been too many because I realized when I went back to the house that I was sweating like crazy. Well, 4 layers including a winter jacket might be too much :p

After shoveling for an hour, we decided to try to go to Wausau. Driving on the highway in the storm wasn’t a good idea but let’s try! We turned on the radio to check weather news. Once we got to the exit to the highway, they said on the radio that this morning might be the best time to travel if you HAVE TO. They recommended not to travel if it’s not necessary because the weather will get worse in the afternoon. It will be very windy, bad road condition, and bad visibility. We were thinking that we could get to Wausau for sure but didn’t think we would make it on the way back. We had to turn around and heard on the radio that there was an accident on the highway where we were thinking to go.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Instead of spending time at the book signing, we went to our friend’s house for dinner. When we got there, our friend, Stacey was making Christmas treats. It is a candy cane stuck in a marshmallow, dip in chocolate and then sprinkled with crushed candy cane. You can dip them in hot chocolate 🙂  Very creative Stacey!

As you know, I am Thai and we don’t have snow in Thailand, so when I have a chance to be in Wisconsin and spend time in winter, one of my must do lists is “make snow angel.” 🙂  Hope you guys like my snow angel!
