วันรุ่งขึ้นตื่นแต่เช้า ออกมาดูว่าคนไต้หวันทานอะไรกันเช้าๆอย่างนี้ ออกจากโรงแรม New Stay Inn มา เดินเลี้ยวขวาไปนิด ก็เริ่มเจอร้านรวงเยอะแยะ เริ่มมีคนขายตั้งเตาทอดอะไรซักอย่าง แต่เช้าๆยังไม่อยากทานของทอด เดินไปไกลอยู่ ไปเจอร้านขายเป็ดย่าง หมูแดง
Got up early to see the morning life in Taipei and to find my breakfast. I saw lots of local food vendors but most of them sell fried stuffs. Too early for that! I saw grilled duck and red pork restaurant but I didn’t want to eat heavy meat for breakfast.
เดินกลับมาแถวที่พัก มีทั้งร้านขายชานมไข่มุก ร้านขายซาลาเปาทอด ร้านขายราเมงก็มี ตอนแรกที่มาถึงเห็นมีขนมโมจิขายเหมือนที่ญี่ปุ่น นี่มาร้านขายราเมงอีก เลยเข้าอากู๋ ถึงได้รู้ว่าไต้หวันถูกยกให้ญี่ปุ่นในปี 1895 จนถึงปี 1945 จีนเข้ามาปกครองไต้หวันอย่างเต็มตัว
I walked back to my hotel neighborhood and saw Taiwanese black tea shops, Salapao, and Ramen shops. When I first arrived, I saw Moji like in Japan and now Ramen. I was curious that Taiwan and Japan must have some connection and yes, Taiwan was ceded to Japan in 1895 until 1945, the ROC gained control of Taiwan.
พูดประวัติศาสตร์พอหอมปากหอมคอ กลับมาเรื่องถนัดดีกว่า มาไต้หวันทั้งที อยากลองบะหมี่ คิดเอาเองว่า คนจีนไต้หวันน่าจะทำเส้นบะหมี่อร่อย แล้วก็เป็นดังคาด เดินมาเจอร้านขายบะหมี่ใกล้ๆโรงแรม เห็นชามวางเยอะมาก ร้านก็ดูสะอาดดี มีคนนั่งทานโต๊ะนึง เช้าขนาดนี้คนอาจจะยังไม่เยอะเพราะเพิ่งแค่ 9 โมงเอง
Now, back to one of my favorite topics, Food! I was thinking Taiwanese must do a good job making noodle. I found the noodle shop near my hotel. Lots of big bowl in front of the shop and it looked clean. Only 1 customer that morning.
เข้ามานั่งปุ๊ป เจอเมนูเป็นแผ่นกระดาษ ไม่มีภาษาอังกฤษเลย แล้วจะสั่งยังไงดี
I went in and they gave me a piece of paper with language that I don’t understand. What to do!!??
ภาษาอังกฤษก็พอพูดแบบเอาตัวรอดได้ยามลำบาก เลยถามคนเสิร์ฟเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ พอเค้าได้ยินเราถามเป็นภาษาไม่คุ้นเคย รีบเรียกเพื่อนในร้านอีกคนมาช่วยคุยกับเรา เราก็ถามเยอะมาก ก็อยากรู้ว่ามีอะไรบ้าง พนักงานก็น่ารักมาก อดทนตอบคำถามแบบไม่มีหงุดหงิดรำคาญเลย ตอนที่ไปอากาศค่อนข้างเย็น เลยสั่งง่ายๆ บะหมี่น้ำใส่เกี๊ยวกุ้งด้วย แป๊ปเดียวได้มา โอ้ว ชามใหญ่ เกี๊ยวกุ้งชิ้นเบ้อเริ่มมาก มีสาหร่ายโรยหน้าด้วย แถมใส่ขิงชิ้นเล็กๆอีก
Well, my English isn’t bad and many Taiwanese I met speak pretty good English. Unfortunately a person who came to take my order doesn’t understand English but she’s kind enough to call her friend who can speak a bit of English. She was very patient to explain all the menu to me, well I wanted to know what it is >< Lucky not too many customer in the morning. Finally I got a basic food, yellow egg noodle with shrimp wanton. It was a bit chilly in the morning so, big bowl of hot soup was perfect. It has small pieces of ginger in the soup too.

You can put the chilies oil or soy sauce too. I think it’s similar like in Japanese noodle shop.
คือมันอร่อยมากขนาดที่ตอนกลางวัน กลับมาทานอีกรอบ แต่คราวนี้สั่งแบบมีซอสเผ็ด เค้าใส่ sesame oil หอมมาก ชามนี้อร่อยกว่าเมื่อเช้าอีก ซอสที่ราดมาอร่อยจริงๆ น้ำซุปข้นแบบขลุกขลิก ดูจากเส้นบะหมี่ได้ คือเส้นมันหนานุ่มดีงามมาก กุ้งในเกี๊ยวก็ตัวใหญ่ ทานแล้วรู้ว่ามีกุ้งจริงๆอยู่ข้างใน ตอนกลางวันที่ไปคนแน่นร้านเต็มทุกโต๊ะ เลยสั่ง appetizer จานเล็ก ส่วนมากเป็นพวกผักดอง แตงกวา เลยลองสั่งแตงกวามา ระหว่างรอบะหมี่ ขอบอกว่าไปไต้หวันแล้วต้องลองทานบะหมี่ แล้วจะรู้ว่าบะหมี่ที่อร่อยมันรสชาติอย่างนี้นี่เอง
The noodle at my breakfast was so good, so I went back for my lunch but this time I ordered something different. I ordered noodle with spicy sauce and sesame oil. The soup was a bit brown and not too much like my morning bowl. You can see from the noodle shape, it was thick and not too soft or too hard. The shrimp wanton was big. It was pretty busy at lunch so, I ordered small plate of appetizer which was cucumber. All I can say is you must try yellow egg noodle in Taiwan, you will know what the good egg noodle taste like.
This shop open from around 8-9 am. and it will be very busy during lunch time and close around 7 pm.
ตกเย็น จะทานอะไรดีน๊า นึกขึ้นได้เมื่อเช้าเดินผ่านร้านขายซาลาเปา เลยเดินตรงดิ่งไปที่ร้าน มีคนเข้าคิวเยอะอยู่เพราะเป็นช่วงเวลาเลิกงาน หลัง 5 โมงเย็น ระหว่างที่เข้าคิวก็แอบชำเลืองมองว่าเค้าสั่งกันยังไง เช่นเคย ภาษาอังกฤษไม่มีนะจ๊ะ แต่ยังดีมีรูปให้ดู
In the evening, I went back to Salapao shop that I walked pass in the morning. Lots of people because it was after work hours(after 5 pm). While I was waiting, I looked up on the board and saw no English (again) but at least they have photos!
ไส้ผักไม่เอา อีกอันอะไรไม่รู้ แต่เห็นมีหมูสับไม่ต้องคิดมาก เลือกไส้หมูสับนี่แหล่ะ ง่ายดี
I don’t like vegetable inside Salapao, no idea what’s another one but I saw grounded pork. I picked what I saw 🙂
ตอนแรกนึกว่าเหมือนซาลาเปาบ้านเราที่เอาไปนึ่ง ไม่ใช่นะคะ ที่นี่ทำสดๆเดี๋ยวนั้น แล้วเหมือนเอาไปใส่ในน้ำเดือดและเอามาทอดนิดๆ
First I thought it will taste like Salapao I ate at normal Chinese restaurant in Thailand but it was totally different. They made it right there so, it was fresh and they boiled it in hot water and then fried a bit.

The pork and the dough was so good. If you like spicy, it has spicy sauce on the counter in a bottle like a bottle of ketchup.

แถมขากลับแวะซื้อชานมไข่มุกอันเลื่องชื่อของไต้หวันซะหน่อย คนขายบอกมีหวานน้อย หวานปานกลาง กับหวานปกติ พอบอกเอาแบบธรรมดา นางบอกเอาหวานน้อยเถอะ เอ๊ะยังไงนางมองหน้าแล้วรู้ได้ไงว่าน้ำตาลในเลือดชั้นสูง หรือนางเหลือน้ำเชื่อมน้อย มองหน้านาง งงๆ บวกกับรู้สึกผิด สั่งหวานปานกลางก็ได้ค่ะ
I grabbed famous Taiwanese black tea with Tapioca black balls. Funny thing was, when I ordered, the staff told me it has 3 level of sweetness. I chose normal level. She looked at me and said it will be pretty sweet, why don’t you choose the less sweet. Excuse me! well, I didn’t say that out loud but how could she know I have high blood sugar or maybe she almost run out of syrup???? Well, I felt guilty to drink sweet suddenly so, I ordered the medium sweet instead ><

Next Stop “Incredible Shaved Noodle shop”.
Another great noodle place in Taipei. The owner is a lovely and friendly couple name, John and Patty. Their tomato noodle soup was so good. Perfect soup. Good choice for non meat person. But if you are a beef lover, their beef noodle soup was delicious. Also, the dumpling was amazing too. I like everything that I ate here. It has free Taiwanese tea but self service. The menu in front of the shop.

Who can resist Din Tai Fong at Taipei 101. The queue was long even though it’s after 1 pm but we were waiting about 15 minutes.
